The report of the last year’s International Postgraduate Veterinary Education (PGVE) Symposium, the first event of its kind to bring together educationalists, practitioners, employers and education providers from across medical and veterinary education, has now been published.

The aim of the event was to share the challenges, opportunities and international best practice across the breadth of postgraduate education, including in the areas of new graduate support, postgraduate qualifications, formal postgraduate training programmes, CPD, licensure and assessment.

Featuring comprehensive coverage of the event, which was organised by the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS) and took place over two days on 18 and 19 November 2025, the report details the more than 40 presentations, including the nine plenary speakers who are leaders in the field of health professions education. As well as the report, videos of many of the event’s presentations are also available to view on the College’s dedicated PGVE Symposium page.

Dr Linda Prescott-Clements, RCVS Director of Education, said: “This was a fantastic event that has, in the intervening months, led to a coming together of an international community in veterinary postgraduate education, dedicated to sharing knowledge, best practice and research. The feedback from delegates following the event was overwhelmingly positive and there was strong support for future, similar events to be held.

“I am delighted to announce that we are now busily planning our next two events which are due to take place in the UK in the spring of 2027, and we are exploring the potential for this to be hosted in Canada in summer 2028. These events will consolidate the work started last year and I am looking forward to seeing this community come together once again.”
