The first detection of West Nile Virus (WNV) in UK mosquitoes has been confirmed in samples collected in July 2023 from wetlands near the River Idle in Nottinghamshire. The Réseau D’Épidémio-surveillance en Pathologie Équine (RESPE) has issued a call for vigilance to the French equine industry following confirmation of a further case of Equine Infectious Anaemia (EIA) in a department that is epidemiologically linked to cases confirmed in April. The TBA has been advised of a positive serological test result(s) for Equine Viral Arteritis (EVA) in a thoroughbred mare. Two negative EVA serological test results dated after 1st January 2025 were provided to the stallion stud prior to covering, however a further blood test obtained from the mare (also taken prior to covering) has returned a positive result.
