17 Feb 2026 BEVA

There is still time to book your ticket and be a part of the important annual equestrian discussions at this year’s National Equine Forum, 5th March 2026.

This year’s diverse programme is aimed at helping to build a united vision for the future of equestrianism.  “For anyone who is keen to keep their finger on the pulse of what’s important for the future of the equine sector, this year’s programme won’t disappoint,” said Tim Brigstocke, NEF Chair.

Participation in NEF is easy and offers CPD points too. The entire event will be broadcast via a livestream on Slido, and in addition will be streamed free via ClipMyHorse.TV. The programme counts as 6 BHS CPD points (see BHS websitefor details) and the audience is invited to participate, with Q&A opportunities via Slido at the end of each session.

Programme summary:

The equine industry in a changing world

This comprehensive session will include contributions from government representatives. The implications of changes to our weather, climate and other factors on those producing forage for horses will also be considered.

Beyond Caveat Emptor: looking under the bonnet of modern vettings

This panel takes a practical look at the modern Pre‑Purchase Examination (PPE). A Panel of key stakeholders will explore where equine vettings can go wrong, how expectations and responsibilities have shifted, and what this means for the horse industry.

On the brink: equine health conditions we cannot ignore

This series of equine health risk updates will include the latest infectious disease risks, the most recent knowledge on anthelmintic resistance and the threat of antimicrobial resistance, including British Equine Veterinary Association’s MonitorMe initiative.

Artificial intelligence: the future is here

This session will explore the rapidly growing role of Artificial Intelligence in supporting equine health and welfare, including how AI is being used to measure positive welfare in the cattle sector and how it can help us improve the health and welfare of horses through the ability to monitor and process large amounts of clinical and behavioural data.

Bite-sized slots: Special interest topics you’ll want to know about

This series of short and sharp presentations will cover; the social value of equestrianism; an update on proposed fireworks legislation; a review of the success of the Blue Cross Home Direct scheme; and details of the recent livery pricing benchmarking survey.

Memorial Lecture

The day will end with the Memorial Lecture, which will take the form of an interview with Professor Chris Riggs, Director, Equine Welfare Research Foundation & Chief Advisor, Mainland Veterinary Engagement, The Hong Kong Jockey Club, and be chaired by Dr Naomi Mellor, Chief Executive of the Thoroughbred Breeders’ Association. The winner the Sir Colin Spedding Award 2026 will then be announced.
