Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic the BEVA Trust has been supporting its partners through virtual projects, but with the situation looking brighter we are looking forward to restarting in-person projects in the UK and overseas. BEVA Trust Secretariat Leaya Slater tells us more about upcoming plans.

We are delighted the Education and Welfare clinics will return this Autumn. The BEVA Trust and BHS joint initiative is in its fifth year and a total of 1,307 horses have now attended the clinics around the country with 599 castrated. Coordinated by the British Horse Society with support from several other equine welfare charities, the clinics provide castrations, dental care, farriery, worming, microchipping and passporting for horses identified to be in need. So far, three clinics are planned for this year, see below for more details.

BEVA Trust volunteers are brushing up on their Spanish and preparing to take part in a series of webinars for World Horse Welfare. The project aim is to develop a wider understanding of some key health and welfare issues for working equids in central America. Five volunteers will share their knowledge on topics including lameness, EHV, wound management and dentistry. Four of the presentations will be delivered in Spanish, leaving one in English and translated into Spanish. We will follow their progress and look forward to hearing the volunteers’ stories.
