Thornton Wright Equine is inviting applications for a full time experienced Veterinary Surgeon to join our growing practice team.  The ideal candidate will have an interest in all areas of first opinion work supported by at least two to three years of practical clinical experience in an equine practice or hospital setting.

Thornton Wright Equine is a proudly independent practice with an excellent reputation for delivering high standards of professional clinical care. The practice is based in the village of Willoughton, approximately 16 miles from the beautiful cathedral city of Lincoln. We provide veterinary services to clients in the counties of Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire. The caseload is busy and varied and includes leisure, sports and professional competition horse clients.

All ambulatory work is undertaken, including preventative healthcare, medical, orthopaedic, and poor performance investigations, diagnostic imaging, and stud medicine. We have clinic facilities and a good range of diagnostic equipment.  Our clinical team is supported by experienced, knowledgeable and proactive support staff who ensure the smooth running of the practice, and your day.

You will be part of a supportive and progressive team delivering excellent veterinary services and providing reliable, confident and compassionate clinical care to our patients and clients.

The successful candidate will:

• Be registered with the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons.

• Be committed to working in line with all RCVS and VMD requirements and positively and professionally represent the practice and profession.

• Demonstrate a commitment to delivering excellent care to all patients and clients.

• Join the one-in-four out of hours rota for evenings and weekends.

• Be committed to working as part of a professional team with excellent communication skills.

• Have strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise and offer a flexible approach to a dynamic workload.

• Demonstrate an inclusive, respectful and friendly attitude towards colleagues.

• Hold a full UK Driving License.

In return we offer a friendly and supportive working environment within a growing independent practice that is committed to delivering exceptional clinical services and developing its employees to their full potential. We focus on providing a sustainable work life balance and a collaborative and supportive culture.

• We offer a flexible approach to working hours, including a condensed working week over four days if desired, and a day off in lieu following a weekend on duty.

• We offer a competitive salary commensurate with experience.

• We support professional development with a generous allowance and paid time off to fulfil RCVS requirements.

• For the right candidate we will also support certificate enrolment.

• We will pay your RCVS registration and BEVA membership fees.

• A practice car will be provided for work use and by agreement could be available for private use.
