Hird and Partners Sheffield Equine Clinic is a successful and ever expanding, independently owned equine practice based just off Junction 33 on the M1, near to the city of Sheffield. We cover a large area within South/West Yorkshire, Nottinghamshire, and the Peak District, with a diverse caseload ranging from pleasure to top competition horses and everything in between! Whilst our work is predominantly ambulatory, our clinic also boasts stable facilities for reproductive work, lameness, and poor performance investigations.
We regularly provide cover for local British Eventing/ FEI events, Wetherby racecourse and unaffiliated fixtures, with the occasional endurance event mixed in. Our clinic is well equipped with modern and mobile diagnostic equipment, digital radiography, ultrasound machines, endoscope / gastroscope equipment and in-house bloods machines. We also have the support of our Shelf Equine Hospital in Halifax for referral, hospitalisation, surgeries, and further diagnostics, including MRI and CT, if required. In addition, monthly, we have a visiting veterinary dentist carrying out both routine treatments and more complicated dental procedures.
We are a young and dynamic close-knit team ranging from new and recent graduates to senior partners. We are assisted by a fantastic nursing and admin team who help us to maintain a positive and supportive working environment.
Being located close to Sheffield and just a few minutes away from the M1 motorway, we have excellent transport links by both rail and road - Leeds,m Manchester and London are all easily accessible. Sheffield itself is a lovely place to live, having been voted the UK’s greenest city in 2021! With its proximity to the beautiful Peak District National Park, it is also an ideal location for those who value time in the great outdoors.
We are keen for our vets to pursue individual areas of interest and we have regular case discussion meetings to support clinical progression. We also encourage our vets to have full case independence and continuity, with the ability to follow up their cases within the clinic environment. Our more experienced team members work closely with our most recent graduates, providing support where needed and helping to nurture them into confident and thriving ambulatory vets. Each vet is assigned a member of our friendly reception team to help plan their days, be a point of contact and assist with admin duties where needed.
This role would suit a new or recent graduate with ample structured support provided, however, we would also welcome applications from more experienced vets looking for a change in career direction. Above all, we are looking for an enthusiastic vet who is a team player and will strive to help us provide high standards of equine veterinary care.
