Veterinary Epidemiologist (Maternity Cover).
12 months or the return of the post holder whichever is sooner
We have an exciting opportunity for a veterinary surgeon to join the Equine Infectious Disease Surveillance (EIDS) group for a 12-month maternity cover position.
The role requires a veterinary surgeon, with experience in the equine field, to assist EIDS with its work in epidemiology and disease surveillance of equine infectious disease.
You will be required to be a qualified veterinary surgeon, with further qualifications or experience in epidemiology being desirable.
In addition to this position, EIDS comprises a senior veterinary surgeon/epidemiologist leading the group, a post-doctoral epidemiologist overseeing strangles surveillance and collation of surveillance reports alongside scientific communication and engagement for multiple industry groups and a support secretariat. Additional staff may be part of the team, as required for specific projects. This may include project coordinators and research assistants to support data collection, stakeholder engagement, analysis, and reporting.
EIDS’s overall aim is to control and prevent infectious disease within the equine population in collaboration with equine industry stakeholders. To monitor disease occurrences and determine action plans for their mitigation, EIDS oversee numerous surveillance schemes, provide a disease control advice service for veterinary surgeons and collate and share disease information.
This role is an exciting and rare opportunity that will develop your epidemiological expertise and provide a varied insight into equine infectious disease.
