Out of Hours Equine Vet - Fellowes Farm Equine Clinic - Cambridgeshire

Vet
11 Jun 2025 BEVA

Does a full time wage for 26 weeks a year interest you?

We have a unique opportunity to join the team at Fellowes Equine. We are looking for an experienced (2 years+) equine vet to support our existing team in the out of hours rota. The successful candidate would take on approximately 50% of the first call out of hours rota, dovetailing with our other Out of hours vet, in a week on week off arrangement, always with the backup of a second on call vet.

The practice offers excellent care to a diverse range of equine patients of which the out of hours work is an integral part. There may be the opportunity to earn extra income by providing locum cover for days at the practice.

Although the role is out of hours you would become part of the team at the practice and benefit from the support of the other vets with a broad range of interests and qualifications including multiple RCVS certificate holders.

The role is mainly ambulatory but you would have access to the facilities at the clinic including stabling, knock down box/surgical suite, clinic room with stocks, DR, ultrasound, videoscopes, etc.

Due to a tech savvy practice manager a lot of our admin tasks, including bookings, on call rota, holiday requests and remote access to the practice management system are taken care of by a series of bespoke phone Apps.

For someone this role will offer the ultimate work-life balance. It will also allow you to expand your professional interests, with funded CPD and development encouraged. Certificate holders, or those studying for a certificate, will be encouraged, however, the right person for our team is more important than experience alone.

In return, we offer:

Cycle to work scheme

Employee discount Health

Shield Cash Plan

Week on week off out of hours work (26 weeks off/annum!)

1 week holiday PA therefore the ability to take one 3 week holiday per year and swap duties with the other out of hours vet.

Monday to Thursday 4.30pm to 8.30am, Friday 4.30pm to Monday 8.30am and Bank Holidays

A competitive salary £45,000 – £50,000 (commensurate with experience)

Pension

If the role sounds of interest, we’d love to hear from you. To apply, or for an informal chat, please contact our Practice Manager, Mark Day - mark.day@fellowesfarm.com
