Equine Veterinary Surgeon – Sole Charge Role

Are you an experienced equine vet ready to step into a rewarding sole-charge position? We are seeking a confident, motivated Veterinary Surgeon to join Solway Equine Vets based near Carlisle in the beautiful Lake District.

Solway Equine Vets was established in 2023 as a joint venture between Hambleton Equine Clinic and Cheviot Vets. Since then it has grown to become a 1 vet practice with the potential to grow further. There is already a nurse, office facilities and portable equipment including radiography, ultrasound and endoscopy.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a capable clinician who enjoys autonomy, building client relationships, and delivering high-quality care across a varied caseload.

The Role

You will take sole charge of a well-established client base, providing routine and emergency equine veterinary services. The role offers a diverse mix of ambulatory work, including preventative care, lameness investigations, and medical cases. You’ll have the independence to manage your own cases while still being supported by a large and experienced team

What We’re Looking For

• MRCVS-qualified Veterinary Surgeon

• Solid equine experience with confidence in sole-charge work

• Excellent communication and client relationship skills

• Organised, proactive, and able to work independently

• A genuine passion for equine welfare and high clinical standards

What We Offer

• Competitive salary, commensurate with experience

• Supportive and collaborative team environment

• Well-equipped practice with modern diagnostic tools

• Opportunity for professional development and CPD

• Work-life balance with a structured rota

• Possibility of equity purchase options for the right candidate

Whether you're looking to take the next step in your career or seeking a role where you can truly make your mark, this position offers both challenge and reward in a beautiful and varied practice area.
