Equine Vet (Clinic and Ambulatory) Brown Moss Equine Clinic - Cheshire

The Job

We are an independent 5 vet purely equine practice based in North Cheshire. The work is mainly ambulatory but with good clinic facilities where we encourage as high a degree of diagnostic work as possible. Two of our current team are certificate holders both of which were obtained whilst working for the practice. We mainly deal with leisure horses but this ranges from much loved retired geriatrics to advanced event horses.

We have portable wireless direct digital radiography, portable ultra sound including cardiac, telemetric ECG, gastroscope, endoscope, equinosis lameness detector, motorised dental equipment and a small in house lab, though we also use Axiom for additional lab work.

If you take a look at the website http://brownmossequineclinic.co.uk you can see more about our facilities.

We are a very friendly team who meet every morning and most afternoons to plan the day, discuss cases and support each other. We like to work as a team and often work cases (for example lameness workups) with 2 vets.

We believe in the importance of a good work / life balance and are normally finished by 5pm when the office closes but obviously flexibility is needed.

As we do no repro work or intensive care, out of hours is usually relatively quiet.

A car is provided but no accommodation. CPD is all funded and development encouraged.

We are only 30 minutes from Leahurst (University of Liverpool Equine Hospital) and have a very good relationship with them, sending surgical cases (especially colics) there regularly. We also use Oakhill referrals for MRI and advanced orthopaedic work. In addition we have a number of leading experts who visit us to see cases. This enables us to keep cases in house, advance our own knowledge and provide the best care for our patients.

What we are looking for;

Enthusiasm, enthusiasm, enthusiasm!

An ability to talk to and understand horsey clients. This will probably come from a background in horses.

A willingness to spend time with people and show genuine care for all horses, large and small, young and old.

The confidence and skill to work alone but also to enjoy working as part of a team.

Someone who will come up with ideas to help the practice move forward and have the drive to carry these ideas through.

A real thirst to learn and improve.

If this sounds like you and you like the idea of joining us then please send your cv to vets@brownmossequineclinic.co.uk or ring us for a chat about the position 07831 486060.
