Are you passionate about horses and interested in working with an independent practice?
Agnew Equine is an independent ambulatory equine practice, established in 2001. Our friendly team of seven vets is known for professionalism, honesty, and exceptional care. We proudly serve clients across the beautiful counties of Cheshire, Staffordshire, and Derbyshire - including the stunning landscapes of the Peak District. Our loyal clients and the diverse range of horses we care for - from children’s ponies to international competition horses - make every day rewarding and unique.
We’re open to applications from both experienced vets and recent grads, and we’re happy to be flexible with how the role is structured - whether that’s in terms of days, hours, or responsibilities. If you’re an experienced vet, you’ll have the freedom to work up your cases fully, with all the diagnostic tools you need. We - and our clients - really value thorough, high-quality care, which helps make the clinical side of things genuinely rewarding. You’ll also have the chance to explore any specialist interests you might have, with plenty of support and collaboration from a friendly, experienced team that includes certificate holders in Orthopaedics and Medicine, as well as newer vets. On top of that, our brilliant admin team makes sure everything’s sorted by the end of the day so you can switch off and enjoy your evenings.
We encourage applications from recent graduates and are committed to helping you grow your clinical skills in a supportive, nurturing environment. As an RCVS Approved Graduate Development Practice, we're well set up to guide you through your first role in practice. You'll work closely with our senior vets, starting under their supervision and gradually taking on more responsibility as your confidence builds. The role is designed to help you become competent in all aspects of routine equine work, while also giving you exposure to more complex cases alongside experienced colleagues.
One of the big advantages of working in an ambulatory practice like ours, compared to a hospital setting, is the hands-on experience you’ll gain - not just with clinical skills, but also in building confidence with client communication. You won’t just be observing from the sidelines - you’ll be getting properly stuck in. We also offer regular training opportunities, including ride-along ‘Shadow Days’ with our vets, as well as a mix of in-house and external CPD throughout the year to keep your learning fresh and practical.
While many practices have been snapped up by big corporates, we’re proudly family-owned and locally run - so our focus stays where it should: on our vets, our clients, and top-quality care. Based in Biddulph Moor, Staffordshire, our scenic location offers lovely countryside drives and quick access to the stunning Peak District. It’s a great place to live and work!
