About us
Stables Equine Practice, located near Wells in the beautiful somerset countryside, remains independent as part of the University of Bristol Vet school. We are a 7 vet ambulatory practice with a purpose built clinic, including stables for outpatients, stocks, large examination room, trot up, menage and lunge arena, with portable up-to-date equipment. We have a loyal client base and our caseload varies from pet ponies to sports horses and everything in between.
What we offer:
We are a fun, friendly & cohesive team, with the majority of vets having worked here for over 7 years. We pride ourselves on developing excellent vet-client relationships. Within the team are two certificate holders, offering good support and clinical back up.
A work vehicle, phone and iPad will be provided. There is freedom to work up your own cases with support from others within the team if desired, the ability to internally refer to colleagues and free choice of excellent local referral hospitals.
Who we are looking for:
We are looking for an enthusiastic team player who enjoys a varied general practice caseload. This role would suit someone with a few years experience wanting to build their own caseload and develop clinical interests within a fully supportive team. We form part of the ambulatory rotation for final year University of Bristol students and take pride in providing them with good quality, hands-on experience, so a desire to teach and coach students is essential. Sadly, we are therefore not able to support a new graduate at this time.
Package:
- Pay : £35-65k depending on experience
- Rota: Currently 1 in 5 weekends (aiming towards 1 in 6) on call with two days back in lieu per weekend. One weeknight on call per week. Financial bonus for horses seen OOH.
- Holiday: 5 weeks per year plus Bank Holidays. Additional days of annual leave allocated for long service.
- Generous CPD budget of £2000/5days with ability for further study (certificate/ teaching qualifications)
- Affiliation with the University of Bristol enables access to numerous clinical papers
- Family friendly policies: including enhanced maternity and paternity pay after 2 years service.
- Generous pension scheme matching up to 8% pension contributions
- RCVS + one additional professional membership fees covered annually (eg BEVA/BVA)
- Employee discount on veterinary fees.
