Applications are invited for Associate Editors with responsibility for sports medicine and clinical orthopaedics

Equine Veterinary Journal publishes evidence to improve clinical practice or expand scientific knowledge underpinning equine veterinary medicine. This unrivalled international scientific journal is published 6 times per year, containing peerreviewed articles with original and potentially important findings. Contributions are received from sources worldwide. We are delighted to announce that we are looking for a new Editor to expand our team in the fields of sports medicine and clinical orthopaedics, important and substantial topics for EVJ.

Associate Editors

The main functions within this role are Manuscript Management, Strategic Direction and Journal Promotion. The post involves working closely with the Editor and Associate Editors, Editorial Consultant Board and the publisher. At this time, we are particularly interested in recruiting individuals with expertise in sports medicine and/or clinical orthopaedics

The ideal candidate will be recognised internationally for his or her academic publications and have an impressive track record of academic output. He or she should also be enthusiastic about developing their skills as a medical editor and have an interest in ongoing developments in medical publishing and must possess the following attributes:

v PhD or Board Certification (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline

v 10 years research experience with good track record of academic publications

v Excellent written and verbal communication and IT skills

v Sound scientific judgement

v Leadership qualities

v Excellent knowledge of research frontiers in equine veterinary sciences

v Ability to work to tight deadlines.

v Outward looking attitude with good contacts across the clinical academic community

Terms

Typically, individuals serve as Editors for EVJ for at least 3 years and often longer. Applicants should note that Associate Editors’ positions are available for 12 months in the first instance. Positions are then reviewed on a three-yearly cycle to allow for Editors roles to develop and accommodate any changes in other aspects of their career and working life. This role is estimated to require approximately 4 hours each week. Additional time is required for meetings and conferences. In light of this an honorarium is granted. Ideally the new Associate Editor will be in place by 1 September 2025.

Application Process

Applications should include a curriculum vitae, a short assessment of the strengths and weaknesses of Equine Veterinary Journal nationally and internationally, and an outline of your vision for this Journal and how you would like to see it develop in the future.

Please send these, in confidence, to:
