On Thursday 27 November 2025, the 51 new Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS) Fellows will be formally welcomed to the Fellowship in a day packed full of celebration, as well as enriching discussion primarily centred around the role of veterinary medicine within the One Health concept.

Taking place at One Great George Street, London, Fellowship Day takes place annually and acts as an opportunity for Fellows to meet, exchange views and network with colleagues.

Highlights of the day will include:

Keynote speaker: Fellowship Day attendees will hear from guest speaker Professor Matthew Baylis, a leading scientist working in the area of One Health, climate change impacts on health, and vector-borne diseases, focusing mainly on Africa and UK/Europe crises.

Workshops: attendees will have the option to choose between two interactive workshops discussing important relevant topics. Session one will focus on ‘Immediate care, lasting legacy – Fellows shaping the frontline of animal emergency response’, led by experts Adam Mugford FRCVS, Jim Green and Neil Rae, exploring how veterinary guidance can transform outcomes in emergency situations. Session two ‘Contagion and control – the veterinary role in surveillance and disease response’ chaired by Christianne Glossop FRCVS, will dive into the crucial role of veterinary professionals in early disease detection, surveillance, and outbreak response.

Fellows of the Future presentations: this will see three undergraduate and/or postgraduate students present their research to assembled guests, with a judging panel of RCVS Fellows then choosing a winner for the competition. Up to ten other student research projects will be displayed in digital poster format which will be displayed on screens during break periods.

The day will be hosted by Dr Niall Connell FRCVS, Chair of the RCVS Fellowship Board. Niall said: “Fellowship Day offers a fantastic opportunity to not only formally welcome our new Fellows, but to celebrate the knowledge and value of the Fellowship as a whole.

“Every year it is inspiring to welcome exceptional professionals to our Fellowship – individuals who are truly dedicated to advancing the profession in the name of animal health and welfare and wider society.

“I look forward to welcoming Fellows, old and new, and their families and friends, as well as students and panel members, and other wonderful members of our professions. Only through constructive, varied knowledge exchange and collaboration can we continue to move the profession forward.”.
