Nominations for 2025 BEVA Council elections now open

News
08 May 2025 BEVA

You're already making a difference in the field, so why not put yourself forward to help shape the future of our profession?

Nominations are now open for the 2025 BEVA Council elections and we're looking for members with passion and bright ideas to put themselves forward.

"If you want to ensure that being a horse vet remains a rewarding career and give something back to the profession, then you should certainly stand for BEVA Council" said current BEVA President Bruce Bladon.

Elected Council members serve for a minimum three year term during which they sit on a number of committees working across projects to help inform our direction.

This year there are four spaces available plus our Junior Vice President role up for grabs. Current Junior Vice President Kate Blakeman said about her time so far on council “I love it, I get so much out of being on all the different committees and meeting people I wouldn't otherwise have crossed paths with."

There's no reason not to apply this year, we're looking for vets and for the first time nurses too, from a variety of backgrounds who can bring their experience and expertise to the table. Imogen Burrows, current President Elect talked about her decision to nominate herself for council saying "Initially I didn't think this was for me, I didn't think I had anything to contribute but actually as a general practitioner I can give so much, and it's so important that we have a general practitioner voice in our decisions."

So what are you waiting for? Put yourself forward before Wendesday 2 July and see what difference you could make if elected.
