Sussex Equine Hospital is offering an exciting internship for motivated veterinarians looking to gain hands-on experience in a busy referral hospital. You will work under the guidance of board-certified specialists, assisting with a wide range of lameness, medical, and surgical cases. Your responsibilities will include:

*Assisting with general anaesthesia and surgeries in our surgical suite.

*Participating in advanced diagnostic imaging, including radiography, ultrasound, CT, MRI, and nuclear medicine.

*Gaining experience with medical procedures such as biopsies, cardiac work-ups, providing intensive care, etc.

*Overseeing in-patient care alongside our dedicated nursing team, including patient exams, treatment checks, and routine care.

*Rotating out-of-hours duties providing in-patient care and assisting senior vets with emergency admissions and treatments.

About Sussex Equine Hospital

Located in beautiful West Sussex, our state-of-the-art, purpose-built referral hospital offers a stunning working environment. Explore the South Downs, relax at nearby beaches, or enjoy city life in Brighton and London with excellent train links.

About the team

Our team is made up of highly trained specialists (4 Surgeons, 2 Internists, 1 Theriogenologist, and 1 Sports Medicine Specialist), along with dedicated equine nurses, trainee nurses, grooms, administration staff, 12 ambulatory vets, and 3 resident trainee vets. We pride ourselves on a friendly, supportive environment where learning and professional growth are a priority.

Applicant Requirements

This role is ideal for a recent graduate or a vet who wants to build their experience and confidence in equine practice. You’ll need RCVS membership (or be eligible to register). We’re looking for someone who’s motivated, positive, and compassionate—a real team player who’s practical, hard-working, and always ready to get involved.
