Archie Moffat has been announced as the winner of the British Equine Veterinary Association’s new BEVA One to Watch Award. Archie received the award at BEVA Congress on 12th September 2025.
The award was introduced this year, to celebrate early-career equine veterinary professionals who are making waves, whether through their clinical skills, passion for equine welfare, leadership, or just being a legend in the field. Archie, who is a vet at Stable Close Equine Practice in Winchester, was one of four candidates shortlisted from all the nominations.
“Our One to Watch winner Archie shines as a truly inspiring clinician,” said Kate Blakeman, who was on the judging panel. “Combining clinical skill with boundless enthusiasm and outstanding communication, Archie seems to build trust effortlessly, translating complex research into practical guidance for clients and colleagues alike.
“He is deeply engaged with the equine community and attuned to emerging industry trends, collaborates seamlessly across teams while demonstrating humility, honesty, and a strong sense of direction. With ambitious goals, a passion for mentorship, and a vision for leadership, our judging panel feel he's a remarkable talent destined to make a lasting impact on the equine world.”
Nominations were received from clients, colleagues, mentors, vet practices and organisations around the UK. They were reviewed by a panel of experts comprising a BEVA Careers Committee representative, a senior equine vet, a non-equine veterinary professional and an external industry representative.
Hannah Olivia Foster from Galedin Veterinary in Galashiels, Sarah Thornton from Hook Norton Vets in Hook Norton and Harriett Bartram-Baird from Ballinger Equine in Hitchin were highly commended for reaching the shortlist.
Archie Moffatt said: “I am thrilled to receive the inaugural One to Watch award and to be recognised alongside the other excellent finalists. I have been very fortunate with the mentorship and support I have received early on in my career that has helped me get to this stage and look forward to giving back in the future.”
Archie received a trophy, one year of BEVA membership, a fully paid BEVA Congress experience (including a one-day pass, overnight stay, and ticket to the annual dinner) and some exclusive opportunities with BEVA. All the finalists received a one-day ticket to BEVA Congress.
