We're excited to announce the return of the BEVA Approved: Introduction to equine chronic pain course to our programme for 2026.
Members are invited to attend the two-day course to get to grips with the equine chronic pain patient on Thursday 22 - Friday 23 October at Blue Cross Rolleston in Derbyshire.
Chronic pain has huge welfare and economical impacts and is rapidly advancing as an important specialism in the fields of both human and animal medicine. Through lectures, practicals and workshop sessions the course will critically evaluate available models and tools for understanding and assessing pain in our patients, for example breaking pain down into sensory, emotional, cognitive and motor components to better understand the impact of chronic pain on the horse and using pain scoring systems to monitor response to treatment. Delivered by experts in equine behaviour, welfare, legislaton and physiology, the course will provide a unique insight into the complexities of assessing and managing chronic pain in horses.
By the time you leave on Friday afternoon, you will:
• Understand the physiological and behavioural manifestation of chronic pain in the horse
• Understand the ethical and welfare of chronic pain in the horse
• Have developed skills for the evaluation, management and monitoring of chronic pain in the horse
As a BEVA Approved course, BEVA members can book with an exclusive discount for just £750.
