Junior Assistant Clinician in Equine
Vacancy Ref: 170192
Salary: Grade 6, £33,482 - £37,174 per annum
The University of Glasgow’s Equine Hospital & Practice is seeking to recruit several Junior Assistant Clinicians in Equine (Internships) to deliver and have responsibility for equine clinical patient care under the supervision of experienced and fully qualified staff. You will participate, and assist, in the Hospital’s activities which include medicine and surgery (including lameness casework) services, undergraduate student teaching and 24/7 operation. These positions provide a new or recent graduate with the chance to develop a broad range of skills in a supportive environment, in preparation for the transition to practice or as a springboard to an equine residency.
You will contribute to the 24/7 operation of the hospital by working a pattern which includes night shifts (shared with colleagues, aiming for a minimum 1:3 rota). In all these activities you will support student training by providing instruction, supervision and feedback, and receive appropriate training themselves as required. Onsite accommodation is provided as part of the employment package.
The Glasgow Equine Hospital works closely with veterinary surgeons throughout Scotland and northern England to provide support and referral services for horses in need of specific procedures or further diagnostics, treatment and hospitalisation. The hospital team works with our Glasgow Equine Practice, that provides ambulatory services to the local area. These posts offer an opportunity to work within a close-knit clinical team with the additional benefit of living within a thriving city, with the Highlands on the doorstep.
