Equine emergency vet - Kent Equine Hospital - Kent

Vet
07 Nov 2024 BEVA

We require an experienced equine vet to join our small fantastic team of 5 vets based on the North Downs in Kent, just an hour from London.  We are the only independent equine practice left in Kent that cover their own on-call emergency service, supported by a fully equipped hospital. We have previously been overwhelmed by the number of applicants for these positions as they suit a multitude of vets, such as those wanting to focus on studying for certificates, those with families wanting more time at home, those wanting to pursue other business ventures and those applying for further specialist training positions.

This special role allows you to have great work-life balance. The working pattern is 1 week on, 3 weeks off, but other flexible working patterns, such as 1 week on 1 week off, or 1 week on 2 weeks off, can be accommodated and discussed. The role involves covering the out of hours service from 4.30pm Friday to 8.30am the following Friday. You will be supported by an experienced team, ensuring all-encompassing care and exceptional customer service. Our day team still enjoy emergency work but having 2 dedicated emergency vets ensures everyone gets a great working pattern and great time off. Teamwork and great communication are essential to ensure good case handover. You will also be provided with the full range of portable diagnostics including wireless DR radiography system, ultrasound and endoscopy suites, in-house laboratory and clinic with full hospital and surgical facilities.

You will have the opportunity to use your downtime to locum, undertake further supported certificate study or pursue your own business or hobbies, as well as supplement this role with additional daytime hours at our brand-new purpose-built clinic.

We offer an extremely attractive package for the right candidate including:

• Salary £30-55,000 DOE

• Week on 3 week off rota (all other flexible working arrangements considered)

• 5 weeks holiday + Bank holidays (pro rata)

• CPD including fully funded certificate encouraged

• BEVA and VDS membership

• Employee Pension scheme

• Long term potential for right candidate

• Generous team discount scheme on vet bills

• Subsidised gym membership

• Employee activities and events

• Enhanced family-friendly policies including maternity/paternity/adoption/shared parental and surrogacy pay

• Private Medical Insurance

• Income Protection Policy

We are a proudly independent practice who believe that we provide our clients with the personal experience whilst striving for clinical excellence. If this role sounds like you can be an equine vet, make a difference to horses and clients but have a great life outside of work, then call Katie for an informal chat on 01622 737884.
