Equine Vet - Lower House Equine Clinic - Shropshire

Vet
09 Jan 2026 BEVA

We are seeking an experienced equine veterinary surgeon at our clinic in Shropshire preferably with an interest in equine lameness orthopaedics and sports horse work

We will also consider a less experienced vet wanting to develop their skills and experience in equine lameness, orthopaedics and sports horse work, working alongside our senior vet receiving teaching and training whilst helping with the current workload. With the aim of developing own case load.

The role is split between general ambulatory work and clinic days, where we have excellent facilities and A great support team to work up cases to a high standard

About our clinic

We are an equine only clinic based on the Shropshire border with easy access to Shrewsbury, Chester, Liverpool, Birmingham, Manchester, and the beautiful Welsh Coast. We opened our doors 9 years ago with the aim of providing an independent, bespoke, personal service to our clients whilst striving for excellence in patient care.

Our clinic is small (just six stables), but mighty (operating theatre, air conditioned exam rooms, all the latest diagnostic equipment, in house lab which includes ACTH testing, excellent lameness work up facilities).

Our team are friendly, dedicated, and supportive. We have won numerous business awards , we are an RCVS accredited practice and a Veterinary Nurse Training Practice, which is down to the whole teams’ hard work and support

Our senior vet is an advanced practitioner in Equine Orthopaedic surgery and Equine Dentistry and is always available for help and support with cases. We have regular clinical meetings and encourage progressive CPD as well as funding for a certificate in the vet’s chosen area.

We also have one colleague with a medicine certificate and another coming to the end of a Repro certificate.

Our support team are very experienced and help our vets in whichever way, from our administration team, student nurses

and qualified nurse

Our clients are incredibly nice, and our patients range from companion ponies and donkeys to British team horses and each one gets treated with the same standard of care.

Our out of hours is generally very quiet. The phones are answered by an RVN or senior vet, so you

are only bothered with genuine emergencies.

We don’t do zone visits; we like our clients to have the choice and flexibility but also we like our vets to have the time and continuity with cases.  We plan our diary carefully to avoid long journeys between calls

Over the last few years we have largely reduced our area that we cover to prevent our vets from spending more time in the car than being a vet

We also encourage equine nurse visits to free up your time

Our Latest RCVS Inspection reported that…

Lower House is a forward-thinking and friendly equine clinic who clearly work to a very high clinical standard. The clinic is immaculate, very well-maintained and all facilities have been thoughtfully designed and installed to provide their clients and patients with a high level of service. The anaesthesia and surgical facilities are notable for being of a particularly high standard.

Lower House is a clinic performing to a very high standard of clinical care and the team are equally friendly and open in terms of their development and practice culture’
