Who We Are:
Hörmann Equine is a small, well-established, and independent Ambulatory Equine Practice based in Whissendine, in the cycling and sailing county Rutland.
With a reputation for excellence, we prioritize clinical autonomy and strive for the highest standards in equine care, backed by a dedicated team that values hard work, teamwork, and a good sense of humor.
We’re also managing the veterinary services for the Burghley Horse Trials CCI 5* – a responsibility we’ve proudly held for the past seven years.
About the Role:
We’re seeking an enthusiastic equine veterinarian who values clinical freedom while being supported by an experienced team. This role involves:
• Total Clinical Freedom: With access to high-quality equipment and the support of experienced colleagues, you’ll have the freedom to pursue cases as you see fit.
• Range of Cases: Work with horses across the spectrum, from Pony Club to 5* eventers, focusing on orthopaedics, medicine, and standing surgery in the field or our purpose built treatment room.
• Top-tier Equipment: Each vet is equipped with a purpose-built van with a fridge, inverter, DR system, and US scanner. Our shared advanced tools include a Class4 Laser, video endoscope, gastroscope, shockwave – and we welcome suggestions!
• Supportive Team & Clients: Our clients are well-vetted, and our team of two receptionists will provide background on each client, helping to streamline your caseload.
• Clinical Collaboration: Weekly meetings allow the team to discuss cases, celebrate successes, and learn from challenges.
What We Offer:
• Work-Life Balance: condensed 4-day workweek; 28 days of holiday (including bank holidays), plus your birthday off!
• Flexible Scheduling: 1:3 (or 1:4) weekend rota, one night on-call weekly (OOH generally quiet). We are looking into using Equi-Call.
• Professional Development: VDS, BEVA, and RCVS memberships paid; CPD allowance of at least 4 days per year, with further relevant CPD considered. Certificate/Diploma support provided.
• Additional Benefits: Salary DOE up to 70k/a, pension scheme, and excellent relationships with referral hospitals for additional specialist support.
If you’re an equine vet ready for a role with independence, high standards, and a supportive team, we’d love to hear from you!
