Position Overview: We are seeking a skilled Equine Racing Veterinarian with a focus on flat racing sports medicine to join our dynamic team. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work with top-level racehorses, providing specialized care to optimize their performance and well-being. The role involves traveling to Taif during the Taif racing season. This position is available for both a three-month locum and a permanent placement.
Role Highlights:
- Provide expert veterinary care to flat racing horses, specializing in sports medicine.
- Conduct pre-race examinations and post-race evaluations.
- Develop and implement treatment plans to enhance performance and prevent injuries.
- Collaborate with trainers, owners, and other professionals in the racing industry.
- Utilize diagnostic tools and techniques for comprehensive care.
Responsibilities:
- Perform lameness examinations using advanced diagnostic techniques.
- Conduct pre-purchase examinations, including assessments for yearling sales.
- Manage international quarantine procedures for racing horses.
- Perform digital radiography and ultrasonography for accurate diagnoses.
- Conduct overground endoscopy and resting endoscopy as part of evaluations.
- Provide comprehensive care and treatment plans for racehorses.
Qualifications:
- Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from a recognized veterinary school.
- Experience working with racehorses in a high-performance environment.
- Proficiency in lameness evaluations, diagnostic imaging, and treatment modalities.
- Strong understanding of racehorse physiology and training principles.
- Skilled in digital radiography, ultrasonography, overground endoscopy, and resting endoscopy.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
